On the VMAR Dornier Do-335, do I use a pusher prop at the rear or a conventional puller prop reversed? In other words both motors are pulling?

You need to fit the rear prop back to front (i.e so the front of the blade faces forward) and make sure the rear motor turns in the opposite direction to the front one. The outer bells should then rotate anticlockwise when viewed from the front.
