We are sometimes asked to convert JR sets purchased in other parts of the world
to CE standard. This is not possible, since we do not have the necessary
equpment to change the software. It should also be borne in mind that hardware
modifications are sometimes necessary to bring a radio system up to CE standard
and such changes are best done at the factory during initial assembly.
The main motive for buying from outside the EU is often a lower internet price,
but this would quickly be offset by the labour and replacement parts cost if a
modification scheme was available. The lower prices quoted on overseas websites
often do not include items such as postal charges, import duty, excise duty and
VAT. The EU based arm of the delivery company will also add on their own
delivery charges and clearance fees. The end is result is that you could well
pay more to import a non-CE standard set and then find out it is banned from
use at your local or national flying sites.
If you find yourself in this position, we recommend that you return your goods
to the supplier and ask for a refund, stating that the goods are not CE
compliant and are therefore not fit for purpose.
