During a recent visit to Saito’s factory we were very pleased to learn that Saito were celebrating their 50th year as a model engine manufacturer.
This coincides with our own 50th Anniversary, 1959 being the year when MacGregor Industries began as a plastic engineering company. The engineering division is still at the core of our company, manufacturing high quality machined parts in a wide range of plastic materials. Our industrial customers include leading aerospace and medical equipment manufacturers such as BAE Systems, Varian, Cobham, Elekta and Thalys to name just a few.
Our radio control business began when small scraps of copper circuit board, left over from engineering jobs, were utilised to make self-assembly R/C receiver kits.  In the 1960’s reliable radio control was only just starting to evolve and our Minimac receivers soon became very popular. Over the next decade business boomed and blue box MacGregor ‘Digimac’ series radio control systems were soon a popular choice at model flying fields across the UK and beyond.
With the advent of high quality Japanese R/C systems at low prices it was soon realised that our British made goods could not compete. Production was wound down and we started our long association with JR Propo. Over thirty years later, we are still very proud to be their sole UK distributor.

Service Notice
We have enjoyed a similar long-term relationship with Saito Seisakusho Co. Ltd. Their premium quality four-stroke engines have always been a popular choice and their recently released petrol engines have been a big hit. Saito are now building on this success by launching another brand-new ‘gas’ engine, the FG-30.
To celebrate their 50th Anniversary, Saito have produced a very limited edition gold plated version of the FA-30. This is the first engine size that Saito produced and the latest version certainly catches they eye with its precious metal coating. We expect this engine to be a ‘must have’ for model engine collectors but please be aware that it only a small number are being made.
